The Black Sea has a great feature with its physical, chemical, hydrobiological, geomorphological, geopolitical, cultural texture and habitat between the Asian and European continents of the Northern Hemisphere (Arısoy).
It is observed that Black Sea studies are mostly concentrated in the north of the Black Sea in the historical process. In our country, the Black Sea studies started long after the Northern Black Sea research area. For example, while the first of the biological research stations was established in Sevastopol in 1871, in our country it was established in 1934 at the High Fish Institute-Balta Port and unfortunately it was closed three years later. Even a research station that was established sixty years later was closed while it was still in its beginning stage and could not be active in this field.
Geography studies, aquaculture, occupational folklore, global warming and climate change, disappearing species and invasive species that create new habitats due to climate change, and fauna and flora that change and differentiate in the historical process form the backbone of Black Sea studies.
The epicentre of our Black Sea studies was determined as Samsun location. Samsun has an important basin in terms of biodiversity richness formed by two magnificent deltas such as Yeşilırmak and Kızılırmak on the Southern Black Sea coast. This location makes Samsun the Amazon of the country together with its fresh water reservoir areas and large and small rivers and streams.
In Black Sea studies, fieldwork will be viewed from a historical perspective of a century. It will be witnessed how the Black Sea ecosystem and human shaping have destroyed the Black Sea ecology and geography or created new habitats in the course of a century until today. In this context, urgent measures and things to be done in the process of rapid extinction will be planned and action will be taken. The process of adaptation to new conditions and forms will be investigated and it will be aimed to maintain the healthy life of living beings.
The heavy destruction experienced in the Black Sea studies over the course of a century astonishes us. In addition to the physical and ecological destruction, this destruction reveals the process of disappearing species and how the heat balance has changed at the macro and micro level. It is wondered where the ecological stress of the plants still cultivated and the bad course in this direction will end. Research will also inform us about the extinction processes of endangered creatures that lived in this geography.
Global warming and climate change will require us to redesign our traditional lifestyles and, accordingly, our cultural fabric that has been created for centuries. It is estimated that the most prominent research area with climate change will be the Black Sea Region. The fact that invasive species discover this geography and these waters every year should enable us to review our research priority in this field. Our biggest assistant in the century was the pictures, domestic and foreign documents, narratives, biographies, travel books, etc. all oral and written materials documenting the geography of the Black Sea with the 1900s.
As an extension of our Black Sea studies, global warming and climate change studies, which have become the first priority of our age, will be maintained at the websites: iklimköyü.com, iklimköyü.net, iklimdegişikligikoyu.com, iklimaraştırmaları.com, iklimarastirmalarıkoyu.com In these studies; research stations will be established at certain points in the Black Sea, and then it will be aimed to spread these stations all over the country. After all; for a sustainable life, the knowledge attained by humanity should aim to save the future and a healthy common life should be desired for all the world’s creatures.
